Word and Google Docs

Today we talked about various ways we can use Word documents offline and have a build-up story. We each started a story with one sentence and then we rotated computers, writing a sentence on the next person's story. It was a fun activity for us, and it was easy to see that students would love the freedom to create and to have computer time like that. We also worked with a partner on a google doc. I had heard of them but this was the first time I've used one. It is so nice to have changes show up for everyone invited to participate in the document. We could both work on it simultaneously. Cool stuff!

Side note I chose the wrong day to pull my hair back! My ears were freezing coming up to this early class with the wind coming out of the canyon!

YETC

We went to the education lab and learned about a lot of great resources we can use as teachers. A great place to search for new websites and resources is the teacherlink.ed.usu.edu/yetc site. Some of my favorites I found were: learning about the video add-on for firefox so then I can download and manage videos. Especially because many of those sites are blocked at schools I can get videos online and save them to use in class. I also loved storyline online site. I think that is wonderful to get children excited about books. I know I'll use that in my future as a teacher. I was also able to gather some ideas to share with my cooperative 6th grade science teacher to use in class. Lots of fun! I'm so happy we came!
